RESIDENTIAL F.A.Q.'s

When do I put my recycling out?
Each residential service area is different. Please refer to your original residential service guidelines to determine if you recycle on a red week or a white week. If you do not have your original service documents, you can provide your address to our customer service department at 724-843-9373 (Ohio - 330-482-9660) and we will be happy to let you know whether you recycle on a red week or a white week.

What does my billing statement cover?
You will receive an invoice on a quarterly basis in advance of the service period. Charges for the collection of bulk items that you requested during the previous quarter that remain unpaid will also be shown on the invoice.

What payment methods can I use?
We accept cash, check and credit card (American Express, Discover, Mastercard & Visa).

Where do I mail payments if I have lost the address?
Your payment can be mailed to:
   Valley Waste Service, Inc.
   P.O. Box 837
   Mars, PA 16046

Also, you may bring payment directly to our customer service desk during business hours or place them in the mail slot, located at the side door of the office.   > Our Location

What should I do if I am moving?
If you are moving, don't forget to contact our office either by phone, email or conventional mail. Please give us sufficient time to ensure that the changes you request occur on schedule. If you do not notify us of the service change, we will expect payment for our services up to the time you notify us. Depending on your current location and new location, you may or may not be required to take our waste cart with you to your new address. Please contact customer service to determine whether or not our cart should go with you when you move or be scheduled for removal.

What do I do with large items such as furniture or construction material?
These are considered bulk items, and there are several options to dispose of these larger materials. The easiest method is calling our customer service department for bulk item pickup. After describing the item to us, our representatives will advise you on the best way to prepare the item and confirm the date that it will be picked up. We will inform you of the charge for pickup of that item and obtain your credit card information for your convenience. Please call at least 24 hours before your regularly scheduled pickup.

If your waste is from a remodeling project that is generating a lot of construction material, a temporary roll-off container may be the most efficient option for you. Call 724-843-9373 (Ohio - 330-482-9660) or > request service and we'll help you decide.

Can you take a refrigerator or air conditioner?
Yes. However, these are considered bulk items and we must be contacted in order to have these items picked up. See > Bulk Items. Additionally, because these items may have contained chlorofluorocarbon (CFC), they must be certified that no gas remains in the appliance. A certified technician can do this for you or we can do this for you for an additional charge.

What should I do with leftover paint?
Paint may be included in your waste if it is solidified. You can place sawdust, sand or kitty litter in your paint to dry it out.

Commercial F.A.Q.'s

What does my billing statement cover?
You will receive an invoice on a monthly basis in advance of the service period. Service charges or charges for extra yardage from the previous billing period that remain unpaid will also be shown on the invoice.

What is extra yardage?
Unlike our competitors, we understand that occasionally your waste generation may exceed your normal limits. Valley Waste Service has trained our drivers to leave your site clean and free of waste regardless of the amount you generate. Our drivers document any extra waste that they encounter at a customer site on their daily route sheets. These route sheets are transferred to the billing department.

Why do I pay more for extra yardage?
Your service charges are based on a maximum amount of yards per week. Any additional yardage, therefore, triggers an extra yardage fee in our billing system. These charges account for the extra fees which Valley Waste Service incurs for landfilling more waste than scheduled as well as the additional man hours spent at a stop with extra waste and subsequent delays on the route.

How can I avoid extra yardage charges?
Perhaps your business has grown or you may have increased production or employees. In any event, it is common for businesses to forget that as they grow, their collection needs may change. Valley Waste Service will be happy to offer you a free waste audit to determine how you may receieve optimum service in the most cost effective manner. Properly sized containers are always easier to budget than continual unexpected charges.

How can I schedule a consultation?
If you feel that you would benefit from a free waste consultation, please contact our customer service department at 724-843-9373 (Ohio - 330-482-9660) or use > this form. Our representatives will be happy to put you in touch with one of our experienced waste consultants to schedule an on-site inspection.

What payment methods can I use?
We accept cash, check and credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or Discover).

Where do I mail commercial payments if I have lost the address?
If you are paying a commercial or roll-off container bill, your payment can be mailed to:
   Valley Waste Service, Inc.
   P.O. Box 837
   Mars, PA 16046

Also, you may bring payment directly to our customer service desk during business hours or place them in the mail slot, located at the side door of the office.  > Our Location

What should I do if I am moving or closing my business?
If you are moving, don't forget to contact our office either by phone, email or conventional mail. Please give us sufficient time to ensure that the changes you request occur on schedule. If you do not notify us of the service change, we will expect payment for our services up to the time you notify us. Please contact customer service to determine whether or not your container should go with you when you move.
